Should You Tease Your NFL Bets
Many cappers speculate about whether or not teaser bets in the NFL can be profitable or whether they’re simply teasers for the bettor. Personally I feel that if you use a good strategy when selecting your teasers you should be able to come out with a profit. The two most common types of online football betting teasers are six point teasers and thirteen point teasers although some online sportsbooks will let you select many different options for your teaser. One thing that is the same with all sportsbooks is that you need to pick at least two teams for your teaser. If you’re unsure what a teaser is at this point we’ll show you a quick example.
* Point Spread Odds – Minnesota Vikings -7 & Green Bay Packers +4
The above odds are the actual point spread odds for the two teams that you want to bet on. To find out what the new spread would be for each game on a six point teaser you need to add/subtract the six points from the actual spread listed above. The new point spreads that you would be betting on with a six point teaser are as followed.
* Teaser – Minnesota Vikings -1 & Green Bay Packers +10
As you can see above the Vikings would only need to win the game by 1 point instead of 7 points on your teaser and the Packers could lose the game by 10 points instead of only 4 points. The chances of winning the teaser become a lot better when you’re able to tease down big favourites and tease up big underdogs. There are a few things that you never want to do when selecting your teaser and there as followed.
* You never want to go past the number 0 when you’re teasing down spreads. For instance, you don’t want to take a -3 favourite and tease the NFL odds spread to +3 since you’d be crossing 0. When a game is capped at -3 it could go either way and you’re not going to be that safe with a +3 teaser. There will always be better games out there to tease in the NFL each week.
* Unless you’re really confident a certain team is going to win by a lot of points you want to try and avoid teasing down huge favourites such as The Colts. For instance, if a team is favoured by -16 at fulltilt, you don’t want to really tease them down to -10 because even that is a lot in the NFL. You’d be better off taking the underdog on your teaser and teasing them up to +22 or not taking the game at all.
* Many people will try and throw on as many games as they can to increase their payout odds with teasers. This is a mistake you want to avoid when betting on teasers. When you end up betting on 7-10 teams on one teaser you’re going to end up losing one game a lot of the time and it really bites. If you try to keep your teasers down to only your top 2-3 games you’ll have a much higher win rate and also more profit.
